Privacy Policy

SplitCheck is designed to be privacy-first. We do not require you to sign up, we do not sell your data, and we keep on your device whatever can stay on your device.
What we collect
- Receipt photos you scan. When you tap Capture, your receipt image is sent over HTTPS to our backend at sddl.me where we forward it to OpenAI's Vision API solely to extract line items, tax, and tip. The image is processed in memory and is not stored on our servers or by OpenAI for training. Source: OpenAI API data usage policy.
- Active split sessions. When you create a split, we generate a short code and store the receipt data, participant names, and item claims on our servers for up to 7 days so guests can join the split via web link. After 7 days the session is automatically deleted.
- Anonymous purchase identifiers. If you subscribe to SplitCheck Pro, RevenueCat (our subscription provider) processes the purchase and provides us with an anonymous subscription status. We never see your payment details — those are handled by Apple.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any other personal identifier.
- We do not collect your contacts, location, or photos beyond the single receipt you actively capture.
- We do not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or trackers.
- We do not require account creation.
What stays on your device
Your scan history, saved splits, draft receipts, and free-scan counter are stored on your device only, in standard app storage. They are never sent to our servers unless you actively share a split. Uninstalling the app deletes them.
Guest participants
When a guest opens your shared link, they choose a display name. That name and their item claims are stored on our servers as part of the session record (auto-deleted after 7 days). Guests are never asked for personal information.
Children
SplitCheck is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Your rights
You can delete any session by tapping it in History and long-pressing, or clearing all history from the History tab. You can revoke camera permission at any time in your device's Settings. To request deletion of any active session by short code, email sddlapp@gmail.com.
Changes
If we materially change this policy, we will update the date at the top and surface the change in the app on next launch.
